Registered Dietitian
Hello! I'm Jade Russouw, a passionate and dedicated dietitian with a diverse background in nutrition, community service, and product development. My journey in the field of nutrition began at the University of Stellenbosch, where I obtained my BSc in Dietetics with Honours in 2020. During my time there, I not only absorbed knowledge but also embarked on a personal weight loss journey, utilizing the tools and insights I gained from my studies to not only transform myself but to help others around me achieve their health goals.
Following my academic achievements, I delved into community service in 2021 at Prof ZK Matthews Hospital, situated in the Northern Cape. My role primarily involved working with malnourished individuals, and those affected by lifestyle diseases, and assisting in the rehabilitation of various conditions. Overseeing four clinics in the Dikgatlong area provided me with invaluable hands-on experience and insight into the real-world challenges faced by communities in terms of nutrition and healthcare access.
Identifying a crucial need for food security amidst nutritional challenges, I took the initiative to develop an enrichment pamphlet aimed at empowering underprivileged households to enrich their staple foods. This initiative not only addressed immediate nutritional needs but also fostered long-term sustainable solutions within the community.
Expanding my skill set further, I transitioned into the role of a fitness instructor at Zone Fitness, where I continued to promote holistic health and wellness. Additionally, my experience as a locum at Nasreen Mohammed Dietitian Practice allowed me to provide specialized nutrition support to diverse patient populations, including oncology, cardiac, pediatrics, and renal patients, through various supplementation methods.
Currently, I am proud to be a part of the dynamic team at Sally Ann Creed, where I serve as a Dietitian, Product Developer, and Food Safety Team Leader. My role involves spearheading innovative projects, including the development of ProHydrate, an electrolyte gut support powder. This product stands as a testament to my commitment to bridging the gap between nutrition science and practical solutions for optimal health.
In every role I undertake, my mission remains consistent: to empower individuals and communities to make informed choices about their health, and to contribute positively to the field of nutrition through innovation, compassion, and expertise.
